IL 130 over Range Creek Bridge

Structure replacement project consisting of removal of an existing five-span PPC deck beam bridge and replacement with a fourspan composite steel beam bridge, 369 feet back-to-back of abutments with 45 degree right forward skew. McDonough-Whitlow provided substructure design and staging plans. The substructure design included integral abutments on steel H-piles. Piers 1 and 3 were solid wall encased H-piles, and Pier 2 was a solid wall with a spread footing founded on steel H-piles. Stage construction details and bearing design and detailing were included as part of the scope of work. Special considerations included significant scour potential and seismic design. Staging plans included suggested procedures for pre-stage 1 through final stage and traffic control drawings. Quantities and Special Provisions for the items of work described were provided. McDonough-Whitlow also provided QA/QC for the superstructure plans.  Project is scheduled for construction.
